SCALER partners met earlier this month to discuss upcoming activities during the projects’ bi-annual consortium meeting and welcome its Advisory Board of experts in industrial symbiosis.

The meeting took place on the 10-11 April 2018 at the Institute for Manufacturing of the University of Cambridge, gathering partners from ISQ, EIT Climate-KIC, Strane Innovation, Quantis and the University of Cambridge.

Participants reviewed the work undertaken in the project’s first semester and planned for next activities including:
– Identification of industrial symbiosis best practices
– Enabling technologies and incentives
– Mapping of industrial facilities
– Identification and assessment of potential flows and synergies
– Communications and dissemination

Impending activities include an expert enquiry on on adopting industrial symbiosis on a mass scale in Europe, as well as an industrial symbiosis workshop with key actors, planned for June 2018 in Cambridge.

Consortium partners also met with the SCALER Advisory Board members, offering a great opportunity to share and discuss with a core group of renowned experts in industrial symbiosis, including organisation such as: CCI Essone, VITO NV, Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Network, Aguas de Portugal, EPEA Nederland, TENOVA, DECHEMA, CEMEX Research Group and Dansk SymbioseCenter.

The meeting focused on reviewing project objectives and its methodological approach, with the aim of increasing SCALER’s stakeholder network, information sources, quality of information and consequently project results.
