SCALER has published two new guides to support businesses in transitioning to a circular economy through industrial symbiosis.
The guides provide tips on key elements to look out for when beginning a resource synergy with other companies. This is supported by a series of recommendations, along with relevant contacts and external resources.
Industrial symbiosis can help businesses transform their production lines and transition from linear to circular. However, it can be daunting to embark on this process when you don’t know where to start. We developed these guides to help businesses, and particularly SMEs, gain quick insight into channels they can explore to develop resource synergies with other companies,” says Laura Nolan, Communications Manager at EIT Climate-KIC and author of the guides.
The guides are accompanied by a Synergies Outlook: a list of 100 potential industrial synergies for the European process industry. The outlook aims to inform companies on which waste streams can generate the most value, not only economically but also socially and environmentally. This translates into a repository of 100 synergies on materials, waste and energy for the process industry.
The two reports act as a summary of learnings from SCALER’s work over the last two years, all available here.
